⁸ You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife; it is the nakedness of your father.

Sexual Immorality Defiles the Church

5 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you and the sort of sexual immorality that is not found even among gentiles, for a man is living with his father’s wife.^(A)

¹¹ The man who lies with his father’s wife has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of them shall be put to death; their bloodguilt is upon them.^(A)

²⁰ “ ‘Cursed be anyone who lies with his father’s wife, because he has violated his father’s rights.’^[a] All the people shall say, ‘Amen!’^(A)

^30 [a]“A man shall not marry his father’s wife, thereby violating his father’s rights.^[b](A)

¹⁰ In you they uncover their fathers’ nakedness; in you they violate women during their menstrual periods.^(A)

²¹ Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Go in to your father’s concubines, the ones he has left to look after the house, and all Israel will hear that you have made yourself odious to your father, and the hands of all who are with you will be strengthened.”^{(A) 22} So they pitched a tent for Absalom upon the roof, and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.^(B)

²² While Israel lived in that land, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine, and Israel heard of it.
