²⁵ For ^(A)the land is defiled; therefore I ^(B)visit^[a] the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land ^(C)vomits out its inhabitants.

²⁸ lest ^(A)the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you.

²² ‘You shall therefore keep all My ^(A)statutes and all My judgments, and perform them, that the land where I am bringing you to dwell ^(B)may not vomit you out. ^23 (C)And you shall not walk in the statutes of the nation which I am casting out before you; for they commit all these things, and ^(D)therefore I abhor them.

³³ So you shall not pollute the land where you are; for blood ^(A)defiles the land, and no ^[a]atonement can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed on it, except ^(B)by the blood of him who shed it. ³⁴ Therefore ^(C)do not defile the land which you inhabit, in the midst of which I dwell; for ^(D)I the Lord dwell among the children of Israel.’ ”

¹⁷ “Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, ^(A)they defiled it by their own ways and deeds; to Me their way was like ^(B)the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity. ¹⁸ Therefore I poured out My fury on them ^(C)for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it.
