² and the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother not to ^(A)come at any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat that is on the ark, so that he may not die. For ^(B)I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat.

^10 (A)Aaron shall make atonement on its horns once a year. With the blood of the ^(B)sin offering of atonement he shall make atonement for it once in the year throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.”

The Full Assurance of Faith

^19 (A)Therefore, brothers,^[a] since we have confidence to enter ^(B)the holy places by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by ^(C)the new and living way that he opened for us through ^(D)the curtain, that is, through his flesh,

¹⁰ And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, ^(A)a cloud filled the house of the Lord, ¹¹ so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.

Solomon Blesses the Lord

^12 (B)Then Solomon said, “The Lord^[a] has said that he would dwell ^(C)in thick darkness.

²⁵ Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as ^(A)the high priest enters ^(B)the holy places every year with blood not his own,

⁷ but into the second only ^(A)the high priest goes, and he but ^(B)once a year, and not without taking blood, ^(C)which he offers for himself and for the unintentional sins of the people. ⁸ By this the Holy Spirit indicates that ^(D)the way into the holy places is not yet opened as long as the first section is still standing

⁵¹ And behold, ^(A)the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And ^(B)the earth shook, and the rocks were split.

¹⁴ so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, ^(A)for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.

^6 (A)Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord ^(B)to its place in ^(C)the inner sanctuary of the house, in the Most Holy Place, underneath the wings of the cherubim.
