¹² Then he shall take ^(A)a censer full of burning coals of fire from the altar before the Lord, with his hands full of ^(B)sweet incense beaten fine, and bring it inside the veil.

The Profane Fire of Nadab and Abihu

10 Then ^(A)Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, ^(B)each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered ^(C)profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them.

The Incense^(A)

³⁴ And the Lord said to Moses: ^(B)“Take sweet spices, stacte and onycha and galbanum, and pure frankincense with these sweet spices; there shall be equal amounts of each. ³⁵ You shall make of these an incense, a compound ^(C)according to the art of the perfumer, salted, pure, and holy. ³⁶ And you shall beat some of it very fine, and put some of it before the Testimony in the tabernacle of meeting ^(D)where I will meet with you. ^(E)It shall be most holy to you. ³⁷ But as for the incense which you shall make, ^(F)you shall not make any for yourselves, according to its ^[a]composition. It shall be to you holy for the Lord. ^38 (G)Whoever makes any like it, to smell it, he shall be cut off from his people.”

³ Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with ^(A)the prayers of all the saints upon ^(B)the golden altar which was before the throne. ⁴ And ^(C)the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.

⁴⁶ So Moses said to Aaron, “Take a censer and put fire in it from the altar, put incense on it, and take it quickly to the congregation and make ^[a]atonement for them; ^(A)for wrath has gone out from the Lord. The plague has begun.”

⁶ Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from ^(A)the altar. ⁷ And he ^(B)touched my mouth with it, and said:

¹⁸ So every man took his censer, put fire in it, laid incense on it, and stood at the door of the tabernacle of meeting with Moses and Aaron.

^11 (A)and the anointing oil and ^(B)sweet incense for the holy place. According to all that I have commanded you they shall do.”

¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without ^[a]spot to God, ^(A)cleanse your conscience from ^(B)dead works ^(C)to serve the living God?
