⁸ “The person to be cleansed must wash their clothes,^(A) shave off all their hair and bathe with water;^(B) then they will be ceremonially clean.^(C) After this they may come into the camp,^(D) but they must stay outside their tent for seven days.

²⁵ Whoever picks up one of their carcasses must wash their clothes,^(A) and they will be unclean till evening.^(B)

⁷ To purify them, do this: Sprinkle the water of cleansing^(A) on them; then have them shave their whole bodies^(B) and wash their clothes.^(C) And so they will purify themselves.^(D)

¹⁴ I answered, “Sir, you know.”

And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes^(A) and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.^(B)

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness,^(A) the firstborn from the dead,^(B) and the ruler of the kings of the earth.^(C)

To him who loves us^(D) and has freed us from our sins by his blood,^{(E) 6} and has made us to be a kingdom and priests^(F) to serve his God and Father^(G)—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.^(H)

²¹ and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you^(A) also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience^(B) toward God.^[a] It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,^(C)

²¹ King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died. He lived in a separate house^[a](A)—leprous, and banned from the temple of the Lord. Jotham his son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.

¹⁴ The Lord replied to Moses, “If her father had spit in her face,^(A) would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp^(B) for seven days; after that she can be brought back.” ¹⁵ So Miriam was confined outside the camp^(C) for seven days,^(D) and the people did not move on till she was brought back.

² “Command the Israelites to send away from the camp anyone who has a defiling skin disease^[a](A) or a discharge^(B) of any kind, or who is ceremonially unclean^(C) because of a dead body.^{(D) 3} Send away male and female alike; send them outside the camp so they will not defile their camp, where I dwell among them.^(E)”
