² “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When any of you bring an offering of livestock to the Lord, you shall bring your offering from the herd or from the flock.^(A)

¹⁸ “Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites and say to them: When anyone of the house of Israel or of the aliens residing in Israel presents an offering, whether in payment of a vow or as a freewill offering that is offered to the Lord as a burnt offering, ¹⁹ to be acceptable on your behalf it shall be a male without blemish, of the cattle or the sheep or the goats.^(A)

⁶ We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith;^(A)

² and walk in love, as Christ loved us^[a] and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.^(A)

⁵ but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.^(A)

³ In the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground,^(A)

12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, on the basis of God’s mercy, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable act of worship.^(A)
