² “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ^(A)‘When any one of you brings an offering to the Lord, you shall bring your offering of the livestock—of the herd and of the flock.

¹⁸ “Speak to Aaron and his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them: ^(A)‘Whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, who ^[a]offers his sacrifice for any of his vows or for any of his freewill offerings, which they offer to the Lord as a burnt offering— ^19 (B)you shall offer of your own free will a male without blemish from the cattle, from the sheep, or from the goats.

⁶ Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is ^(A)given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us ^(B)prophesy in proportion to our faith;

² And ^(A)walk in love, ^(B)as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God ^(C)for a sweet-smelling aroma.

⁵ but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.

³ And ^[a]in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit ^(A)of the ground to the Lord.

Living Sacrifices to God

12 I ^(A)beseech^[a] you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies ^(B)a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your ^[b]reasonable service.
