5 ¶ Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us; look, and behold our reproach.
2 Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
3 We are orphans without father; our mothers are as widows.
4 We have drunk our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.
5 Our necks are under persecution; we are become tired and have no rest.
6 We have given the hand to the Egyptians and to the Assyrians to be satisfied with bread.
7 Our fathers have sinned and are dead; and we have borne their chastisements.
8 Slaves have ruled over us: there was no one to deliver us out of their hand.
9 We got our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness.
10 Our skin became black like an oven because of the terrible famine.
11 They ravished the women in Zion and the virgins in the cities of Judah.
12 Princes were hanged up by their hand; the countenance of the elders was not honoured.
13 They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood.
14 The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.
15 The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.
16 The crown is fallen from our head; woe now unto us, for we have sinned!
17 ¶ For this our heart is saddened; for these things our eyes are become dim.
18 Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.
19 Thou, O LORD, shall remain for ever; thy throne from generation to generation.
20 Why should thou forget us for ever and forsake us for such a long time?
21 Turn us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as at the beginning.
22 For in stepping back thou hast rejected us; thou hast become very angry against us.

5 Acuérdate, oh Señor, de lo que nos ha sucedido;
mira y ve nuestro oprobio(A).
2 Nuestra heredad ha pasado a extraños(B),
nuestras casas a extranjeros(C).
3 Hemos quedado huérfanos, sin padre,
nuestras madres, como viudas(D).
4 Por el agua que bebemos tenemos que pagar[a],
nuestra leña nos llega por precio(E).
5 Sobre nuestros cuellos están nuestros perseguidores[b];
no hay descanso para nosotros, estamos agotados(F).
6 A Egipto y a Asiria nos hemos sometido[c]
para saciarnos de pan(G).
7 Nuestros padres pecaron, ya no existen,
y nosotros cargamos con sus iniquidades(H).
8 Esclavos dominan sobre nosotros(I),
no hay quien nos libre de su mano(J).
9 Con peligro de nuestras vidas[d] conseguimos nuestro pan(K),
enfrentándonos a la espada del desierto.
10 Nuestra piel quema como un horno,
a causa de los ardores[e] del hambre(L).
11 Violaron a las mujeres en Sión(M),
a las vírgenes en las ciudades de Judá.
12 Los príncipes fueron colgados de sus manos,
los rostros de los ancianos no fueron respetados(N).
13 Los jóvenes trabajaron en[f] el molino(O),
y los muchachos cayeron bajo el peso de la leña(P).
14 Los ancianos se han apartado de[g] las puertas,
los jóvenes de su música(Q).
15 Ha cesado el gozo de nuestro corazón,
se ha convertido en duelo nuestra danza(R).
16 Ha caído la corona de nuestra cabeza(S).
¡Ay de nosotros, pues hemos pecado(T)!
17 Por esto está abatido nuestro corazón(U),
por estas cosas se nublan nuestros ojos(V),
18 por el monte Sión que está asolado(W);
las zorras merodean en él(X).
19 Mas[h] tú, oh Señor, reinas[i] para siempre,
tu trono permanece de generación en generación(Y).
20 ¿Por qué te olvidas para siempre de nosotros,
y nos abandonas a perpetuidad[j](Z)?
21 Restáuranos a ti, oh Señor, y seremos restaurados(AA);
renueva nuestros días como antaño(AB),
22 a no ser que nos hayas desechado totalmente(AC),
y estés enojado en gran manera contra nosotros(AD).

5 ACUÉRDATE, oh Jehová, de lo que nos ha sucedido: Ve y mira nuestro oprobio.
2 Nuestra heredad se ha vuelto á extraños, Nuestras casas á forasteros.
3 Huérfanos somos sin padre, Nuestras madres como viudas.
4 Nuestra agua bebemos por dinero; Nuestra leña por precio compramos.
5 Persecución padecemos sobre nuestra cerviz: Nos cansamos, y no hay para nosotros reposo.
6 Al Egipcio y al Asirio dimos la mano, para saciarnos de pan.
7 Nuestros padres pecaron, y son muertos; Y nosotros llevamos sus castigos.
8 Siervos se enseñorearon de nosotros; No hubo quien de su mano nos librase.
9 Con peligro de nuestras vidas traíamos nuestro pan Delante del cuchillo del desierto.
10 Nuestra piel se ennegreció como un horno A causa del ardor del hambre.
11 Violaron á las mujeres en Sión, A las vírgenes en las ciudades de Judá.
12 A los príncipes colgaron por su mano; No respetaron el rostro de los viejos.
13 Llevaron los mozos á moler, Y los muchachos desfallecieron en la leña.
14 Los ancianos cesaron de la puerta, Los mancebos de sus canciones.
15 Cesó el gozo de nuestro corazón; Nuestro corro se tornó en luto.
16 Cayó la corona de nuestra cabeza: Ay ahora de nosotros! porque pecamos.
17 Por esto fué entristecido nuestro corazón, Por esto se entenebrecieron nuestro ojos:
18 Por el monte de Sión que está asolado; Zorras andan en él.
19 Mas tú, Jehová, permanecerás para siempre: Tu trono de generación en generación.
20 ¿Por qué te olvidarás para siempre de nosotros, Y nos dejarás por largos días?
21 Vuélvenos, oh Jehová, á ti, y nos volveremos: Renueva nuestros días como al principio.
22 Porque repeliendo nos has desechado; Te has airado contra nosotros en gran manera.

3 We have become fatherless,
our mothers are widows.(F)
4 We must buy the water we drink;(G)
our wood can be had only at a price.(H)
5 Those who pursue us are at our heels;
we are weary(I) and find no rest.(J)
6 We submitted to Egypt and Assyria(K)
to get enough bread.
7 Our ancestors(L) sinned and are no more,
and we bear their punishment.(M)
8 Slaves(N) rule over us,
and there is no one to free us from their hands.(O)
9 We get our bread at the risk of our lives
because of the sword in the desert.
10 Our skin is hot as an oven,
feverish from hunger.(P)
11 Women have been violated(Q) in Zion,
and virgins in the towns of Judah.
12 Princes have been hung up by their hands;
elders(R) are shown no respect.(S)
13 Young men toil at the millstones;
boys stagger under loads of wood.
14 The elders are gone from the city gate;
the young men have stopped their music.(T)
15 Joy is gone from our hearts;
our dancing has turned to mourning.(U)
16 The crown(V) has fallen from our head.(W)
Woe to us, for we have sinned!(X)
17 Because of this our hearts(Y) are faint,(Z)

with jackals prowling over it.
