Lamentations 1:11-16
New American Standard Bible
11 All her people groan, (A)seeking bread;
They have given their treasures for food
To (B)restore their [a]lives.
“See, Lord, and look,
For I am (C)despised.”
12 “Is it (D)nothing to all you who pass this way?
Look and see if there is any pain like my pain
Which was inflicted on me,
With which the (E)Lord tormented me on the day of His (F)fierce anger.
13 From [b]the height He sent fire into my (G)bones,
And it dominated them.
He has spread a (H)net for my feet;
He has turned me back;
He has made me (I)desolate,
[c]Faint all day long.
14 The (J)yoke of my wrongdoings is bound;
By His hand they are woven together.
They have (K)come upon my neck;
He has made my strength [d]fail.
The Lord (L)has handed me over
To those against whom I am not able to stand.
15 The (M)Lord has thrown away all my strong men
In my midst;
He has called an appointed [e]time against me
To crush my (N)young men;
The Lord has (O)trodden as in a wine press
The virgin daughter of Judah.
16 For these things I (P)weep;
[f]My eyes run down with water;
Because far from me is a (Q)comforter,
One to restore my soul.
My children are desolate
Because the enemy has prevailed.”

Lamentations 1:11-16
English Standard Version
11 All her people (A)groan
as (B)they search for bread;
they trade their (C)treasures for (D)food
to revive their strength.
“Look, O Lord, and see,
for I am despised.”
12 “Is it nothing to you, all (E)you who pass by?
(F)Look and see
if there is any sorrow like my sorrow,
which was brought upon me,
which (G)the Lord inflicted
on (H)the day of his fierce anger.
13 “From on high he (I)sent fire;
into my bones[a] he made it descend;
(J)he spread a net for my feet;
he turned me back;
(K)he has left me stunned,
faint all the day long.
14 “My transgressions were bound[b] into (L)a yoke;
by his hand they were fastened together;
they were set upon my neck;
he caused my strength to fail;
the Lord gave me into the hands
of those whom I cannot withstand.
15 “The Lord rejected
all my mighty men in my midst;
he summoned an assembly against me
to crush my young men;
(M)the Lord has trodden as in a winepress
the virgin daughter of Judah.
16 “For these things (N)I weep;
my eyes flow with tears;
for (O)a comforter is far from me,
one to (P)revive my spirit;
my children are desolate,
for the enemy has prevailed.”
