1 How[a] she sits alone,(A)
the city(B) once crowded with people!
She who was great among the nations
has become like a widow.(C)
The princess among the provinces
has been put to forced labor.

2 She weeps aloud during the night,(D)
with tears on her cheeks.
There is no one to offer her comfort,
not one from all her lovers.[b](E)
All her friends have betrayed her;
they have become her enemies.

3 Judah has gone into exile
following[c] affliction and harsh slavery;
she lives among the nations
but finds no place to rest.(F)
All her pursuers have overtaken her
in narrow places.

4 The roads to Zion(G) mourn,
for no one comes to the appointed festivals.(H)
All her gates are deserted;
her priests groan,
her young women grieve,
and she herself is bitter.

5 Her adversaries have become her masters;(I)
her enemies are at ease,(J)
for the Lord has made her suffer
because of her many transgressions.
Her children have gone away
as captives before the adversary.

6 All her splendor(K) has vanished
from Daughter Zion.(L)
Her leaders are like stags
that find no pasture;
they walk away exhausted
before the hunter.(M)

7 During the days of her affliction and homelessness(N)
Jerusalem remembers all her precious belongings
that were hers in days of old.
When her people fell into the adversary’s hand,
she had no one to help.
The adversaries looked at her,
laughing over her downfall.

8 Jerusalem has sinned grievously;
therefore, she has become an object of scorn.[d]
All who honored her now despise her,
for they have seen her nakedness.
She herself groans and turns away.

9 Her uncleanness stains her skirts.(O)
She never considered her end.
Her downfall was astonishing;(P)
there was no one to comfort her.
Lord, look on my affliction,
for the enemy triumphs!

10 The adversary has seized
all her precious belongings.
She has even seen the nations
enter her sanctuary—
those You had forbidden
to enter Your assembly.(Q)

They have traded their precious belongings for food
in order to stay alive.(S)
Lord, look and see
how I have become despised.

12 Is this nothing to you, all you who pass by?(T)
Look and see!
Is there any pain like mine,
which was dealt out to me,
which the Lord made me suffer
on the day of His burning anger?(U)

13 He sent fire from heaven(V) into my bones;

and turned me back.
He made me desolate,
sick all day long.

14 My transgressions have been formed into a yoke,[f][g](Y)

they have been placed on my neck,
and the Lord has broken my strength.
He has handed me over
to those I cannot withstand.

to crush my young warriors.

16 I weep because of these things;

For there is no one nearby to comfort me,(AD)
no one to keep me alive.
My children are desolate
because the enemy has prevailed.

17 Zion stretches out her hands;
there is no one to comfort her.
The Lord has issued a decree against Jacob
that his neighbors should be his adversaries.
Jerusalem has become
something impure(AE) among them.

18 The Lord is just,
for I have rebelled against His command.(AF)
Listen, all you people;
look at my pain.
My young men and women
have gone into captivity.(AG)

19 I called to my lovers,(AH)
but they betrayed me.
My priests and elders
perished in the city
while searching for food
to keep themselves alive.(AI)

20 Lord, see how I am in distress.
I am churning within;(AJ)

Outside, the sword takes the children;
inside, there is death.(AK)

All my enemies have heard of my misfortune;
they are glad that You have caused it.(AM)
Bring on the day You have announced,
so that they may become like me.(AN)

as You have dealt with me

For my groans are many,

淒慘的耶路撒冷
1 從前人煙稠密的城，
現在何其荒涼！
從前揚威萬邦的強國，
現在竟像寡婦一樣。
從前在諸省做公主的，
現在卻淪為奴婢。
2 她在夜間痛哭，淚流滿面。
情人中沒有一個前來安慰。
朋友都出賣她，與她為敵。
3 猶大飽受苦難和奴役，
被擄往遠方，流落異邦，
找不到安居之所。
她在走投無路之際被追敵擒獲。
4 通往錫安[a]的道路滿目淒涼，
因為無人前去過節。
她的城門冷落，
她的祭司悲歎，
她的少女哀傷，她痛苦不已。
5 敵人做了她的主人，
興旺發達。
因為她作惡多端，
耶和華叫她飽受困苦，
她的孩子被敵人擄去。
6 錫安的尊榮消逝，
她的首領像找不到草吃的鹿，
無力逃脫敵人的追趕。
7 在困苦流離中，
耶路撒冷想起昔日的榮華。
如今，她的人民落在敵人手中，
無人援救。

她哭喊道：「耶和華啊，

10 敵人伸手奪去她的一切珍寶。
她目睹外族人闖入聖殿——那是耶和華禁止他們進入的地方。
11 她的人民呻吟著四處覓食，
用珍寶換取糧食維生。
耶路撒冷的哀歎
她說：「耶和華啊，求你眷顧我，
因為我被人蔑視。
12 「路人啊，你們都無動於衷嗎？
你們看看，
耶和華向我發烈怒，降禍於我，
還有誰比我更痛苦呢？
13 「祂從高天降下火來，
焚燒我的骨頭；
祂在我腳前設下網羅，
使我返回；
祂使我淒涼孤寂，終日痛苦。
14 「我的罪惡連接成軛，
祂親手把它們編在一起，
綁在我的頸項上，
使我精疲力盡。
主把我交給我無力抵擋的敵人。
15 「主藐視我所有的勇士，
召集軍隊攻擊我，
打垮我的青年。
主踐踏猶大人[b]，
如同在榨酒池踩踏。
16 「我為此哭泣，
淚流滿面，

1 Giê-ru-sa-lem trước đây đông đảo dân cư,
nhưng nay trở thành hoang vắng.
Giê-ru-sa-lem xưa kia là một trong những thành phố lớn trên thế giới,
nhưng nay nó chẳng khác nào đàn bà góa.
Xưa kia nó là công chúa của các thành phố,
nhưng nay nó chỉ là tôi mọi.
2 Ban đêm nó khóc than,
nước mắt chảy đầm đìa xuống má.
Chẳng ai an ủi nó;
các người yêu nó không còn.
Bạn bè đều phản nó
trở thành thù nghịch nó.
3 Giu-đa đã bị bắt làm tù binh,
nơi nó đang chịu lao khổ.
Nó sống giữa các dân khác,
nhưng không tìm được sự an nghỉ.
Những kẻ đuổi theo đã bắt được nó
đang khi nó gặp khốn đốn [a].

Có ai chịu khốn khổ như tôi không?
Có ai phải gánh chịu sự đau khổ mà Ngài đặt trên tôi không?
Trong ngày thịnh nộ lớn của CHÚA,
Ngài đã trừng phạt tôi.
13 Ngài sai lửa từ trời xuống,
thiêu đốt xương cốt tôi.
Ngài giăng lưới dưới chân tôi
khiến tôi quay trở về.
CHÚA khiến tôi buồn thảm và cô đơn
đến nỗi tôi kiệt lực suốt ngày.
14 Ngài biết các tội lỗi tôi;
tay Ngài bó chúng lại;
chúng đeo quanh cổ tôi.
Ngài biến sức lực tôi ra yếu ớt.
Ngài trao tôi vào tay kẻ mạnh hơn tôi.
15 CHÚA đã gạt bỏ những người mạnh dạn
trong vách thành tôi.
Ngài đưa đạo quân đến chống nghịch tôi
để tiêu diệt các trai tráng của tôi.
CHÚA đã đè bẹp thủ đô của Giu-đa [d],
như bàn ép rượu.
16 Tôi than van về những điều ấy;
mắt tôi đẫm lệ.
Nào ai gần gũi để an ủi tôi,
chẳng ai phục hồi sức lực cho tôi.
Con cái tôi như đất bỏ hoang,
vì kẻ thù đã thắng thế.”
17 Giê-ru-sa-lem giơ tay ra,
nhưng không ai an ủi nó.
CHÚA đã truyền cho các kẻ thù của dân Gia-cốp vây hãm họ.
Giê-ru-sa-lem hiện cũng ô dơ
như những kẻ quanh mình.
18 Giê-ru-sa-lem nói, “CHÚA hành động rất đúng,
nhưng tôi không vâng lời Ngài.
Toàn dân, hãy nghe đây,
hãy nhìn nỗi khốn khổ ta.
Các thanh niên thiếu nữ ta
đã bị bắt làm tù binh.
19 Ta kêu cứu cùng bạn ta,
nhưng họ đều nghịch lại ta.
Các thầy tế lễ và các bô lão ta
đều đã chết trong thành
trong lúc tìm thức ăn để sống còn.
20 Lạy Chúa, xin hãy nhìn tôi.
Tôi lo lắng và vô cùng bối rối.
Lòng tôi lo âu,
vì tôi đã quá ngoan cố.
Ngoài đường phố thì gươm giết;
bên trong nhà thì chết chóc hoành hành.
21 Xin hãy nghe tiếng tôi than vãn,

King James Version
1 How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!
2 She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies.
3 Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.
4 The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.
5 Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the Lord hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the enemy.
6 And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.
7 Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.
8 Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.
9 Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O Lord, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified himself.
10 The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.
11 All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to relieve the soul: see, O Lord, and consider; for I am become vile.
12 Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the Lord hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.
13 From above hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me desolate and faint all the day.
14 The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.
15 The Lord hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men: the Lord hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.
16 For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed.
17 Zion spreadeth forth her hands, and there is none to comfort her: the Lord hath commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him: Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them.
18 The Lord is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.
19 I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to relieve their souls.
20 Behold, O Lord; for I am in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.
21 They have heard that I sigh: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me.
22 Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.
