Lamentations 1:4-6

⁴The roads to Zion mourn,
    for none come to ^(A)the festival;
^(B)all her gates are desolate;
    her priests ^(C)groan;
her virgins have been afflicted,^[a]
    and she herself suffers bitterly.

⁵^(D)Her foes have become the head;
    her ^(E)enemies prosper,
because ^(F)the Lord has afflicted her
    ^(G)for the multitude of her transgressions;
^(H)her children have gone away,
    captives before the foe.

⁶From the daughter of Zion
    all her majesty has departed.
Her princes have become like deer
    ^(I)that find no pasture;
they fled without strength
    before the pursuer.

⁶And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.
