Lamentations 1:3-5

^3 (A)Judah has gone into exile because of affliction^[a]
    and hard servitude;
^(B)she dwells now among the nations,
    ^(C)but finds no resting place;
her pursuers have all overtaken her
    in the midst of her distress.^[b]

⁴ The roads to Zion mourn,
    for none come to ^(D)the festival;
^(E)all her gates are desolate;
    her priests ^(F)groan;
her virgins have been afflicted,^[c]
    and she herself suffers bitterly.

^5 (G)Her foes have become the head;
    her ^(H)enemies prosper,
because ^(I)the Lord has afflicted her
    ^(J)for the multitude of her transgressions;
^(K)her children have gone away,
    captives before the foe.
