²⁰ Why have you forgotten us completely?
    Why have you forsaken us these many days?^(A)

¹ How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
    How long will you hide your face from me?^(A)

²⁴ Why do you hide your face?
    Why do you forget our affliction and oppression?^(A)

¹⁹ Have you completely rejected Judah?
    Does your heart loathe Zion?
Why have you struck us down
    so that there is no healing for us?
We look for peace but find no good,
    for a time of healing, but there is terror instead.^(A)
20 We acknowledge our wickedness, O Lord,
    the iniquity of our ancestors,
    for we have sinned against you.^(B)
21 Do not spurn us, for your name’s sake;
    do not dishonor your glorious throne;
    remember and do not break your covenant with us.^(C)

⁹ Do not be exceedingly angry, O Lord,
    and do not remember iniquity forever.
    Now consider, we are all your people.^(A)
10 Your holy cities have become a wilderness;
    Zion has become a wilderness,
    Jerusalem a desolation.^(B)
11 Our holy and beautiful house,
    where our ancestors praised you,
has been burned by fire,
    and all our pleasant places have become ruins.^(C)
12 After all this, will you restrain yourself, O Lord?
    Will you keep silent and punish us so severely?^(D)

³ O Lord, how long shall the wicked,
    how long shall the wicked exult?^(A)

⁵ Will you be angry with us forever?
    Will you prolong your anger to all generations?^(A)
