Hunted me down like a bird.

Therefore the princes said to the king, “Please, (A)let this man be put to death, for thus he [a]weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man does not seek the [b]welfare of this people, but their harm.”

Then Zedekiah the king said, “Look, he is in your hand. For the king can do nothing against you.” (B)So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah [c]the king’s son, which was in the court of the prison, and they let Jeremiah down with ropes. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire. So Jeremiah sank in the mire.

Are more than the hairs of my head;

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

11 In (A)the Lord I put my trust;
How can you say to my soul,
“Flee as a bird to your mountain”?

18 And he said, (A)“Why does my lord thus pursue his servant? For what have I done, or what evil is in my hand? 19 Now therefore, please, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant: If the Lord has (B)stirred you up against me, let Him accept an offering. But if it is the children of men, may they be cursed before the Lord, (C)for they have driven me out this day from sharing in the (D)inheritance of the Lord, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods.’ 20 So now, do not let my blood fall to the earth before the face of the Lord. For the king of Israel has come out to seek (E)a flea, as when one hunts a partridge in the mountains.”

28 Please forgive the trespass of your maidservant. For (A)the Lord will certainly make for my lord an enduring house, because my lord (B)fights the battles of the Lord, (C)and evil is not found in you throughout your days. 29 Yet a man has risen to pursue you and seek your life, but the life of my lord shall be (D)bound in the bundle of the living with the Lord your God; and the lives of your enemies He shall (E)sling out, as from the pocket of a sling.

10 Look, this day your eyes have seen that the Lord delivered you today into my hand in the cave, and someone urged me to kill you. But my eye spared you, and I said, ‘I will not stretch out my hand against my lord, for he is the Lord’s anointed.’ 11 Moreover, my father, see! Yes, see the corner of your robe in my hand! For in that I cut off the corner of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that there is (A)neither evil nor rebellion in my hand, and I have not sinned against you. Yet you (B)hunt my life to take it. 12 (C)Let the Lord judge between you and me, and let the Lord avenge me on you. But my hand shall not be against you. 13 As the proverb of the ancients says, (D)‘Wickedness proceeds from the wicked.’ But my hand shall not be against you. 14 After whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom do you pursue? (E)A dead dog? (F)A flea? 15 (G)Therefore let the Lord be judge, and judge between you and me, and (H)see and (I)plead my case, and deliver me out of your hand.”
