To every thing there is a zeman (time), and an et (season) for every matter under Shomayim;

An et (season) to be born, and an et (season) to die; an et (season) to plant, and an et (season) to uproot that which is planted;

An et (season) to kill, and an et (season) to heal; an et (season) to tear down, and an et (season) to build up;

An et (season) to weep, and an et (season) to laugh; an et (season) to mourn, and an et (season) to dance;

An et (season) to throw stones away, and an et (season) to gather stones together; an et (season) to embrace, and an et (season) to refrain from embracing;

An et (season) to look for, and an et (season) to lose; an et (season) to keep, and an et (season) to throw away;

An et (season) to tear, and an et (season) to mend; an et (season) to keep silent, and an et (season) to speak;

An et (season) to love, and an et (season) to hate; an et (season) of milchamah, and an et (season) of shalom.

What profit hath the worker from his amal (labor)?

10 I have seen the occupation, which Elohim hath given to the bnei HaAdam to keep them occupied.

11 Hashem hath made every thing yafeh in its et (season); also He hath set HaOlam in their lev, yet so that no adam can find out the ma’aseh that HaElohim hath done from the beginning to the end.

12 I have da’as that there is nothing better for adam, than that they have simchah and do tov while they live.

13 And also that kol haAdam should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his amal. This is a gift of Elohim.

14 I have da’as that, all that HaElohim doeth will endure l’olam; nothing can be added to it, nor any thing taken from it; HaElohim doeth it, that men should fear before Him.

15 That which is hath been already; and that which is to be hath already been; and HaElohim will call that which is past to account.

16 And moreover I saw under the shemesh that in the Mekom Mishpat (place of judgment) resha (wickedness) was there; and in the Mekom Tzedek, resha (wickedness) was there.

17 I said in mine lev, HaElohim shall judge the tzaddik and the resha (wicked); for an et (season) for every matter and for every ma’aseh is there.

18 I said in mine lev, As for bnei haAdam, HaElohim tests them, that they might see that they themselves are like beheimah.

19 For bnei haAdam and beheimah share one and same mikreh (fortune); as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that the adam hath no advantage above the beheimah; for all is hevel.

20 All go unto mekom echad; all are of the afahr (dust), and all return to the afahr again.

21 Who hath da’as of the ruach bnei haAdam that goeth upward, and the ruach habeheimah that goeth downward to ha’aretz [see 12:7]?

22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better than that the adam find simchah in his ma’asim; for that is his chelek; for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

Everything Has Its Time

To everything there is a season,
A (A)time for every purpose under heaven:

A time [a]to be born,
And (B)a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
A time to (C)weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
(D)A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
(E)A time to keep silence,
And a time to (F)speak;
A time to love,
And a time to (G)hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

The God-Given Task

(H)What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? 10 (I)I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that (J)no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

12 I know that nothing is (K)better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, 13 and also that (L)every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God.

14 I know that whatever God does,
It shall be forever.
(M)Nothing can be added to it,
And nothing taken from it.
God does it, that men should fear before Him.
15 (N)That which is has already been,
And what is to be has already been;
And God [b]requires an account of [c]what is past.

Injustice Seems to Prevail

16 Moreover (O)I saw under the sun:

In the place of [d]judgment,
Wickedness was there;
And in the place of righteousness,
[e]Iniquity was there.

17 I said in my heart,

(P)“God shall judge the righteous and the wicked,
For there is a time there for every [f]purpose and for every work.”

18 I said in my heart, “Concerning the condition of the sons of men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are like animals.” 19 (Q)For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity. 20 All go to one place: (R)all are from the dust, and all return to dust. 21 (S)Who[g] knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth? 22 (T)So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for (U)that is his [h]heritage. (V)For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?

време за убиване и време за изцеление,
време за събаряне и време за градене,
време за ридание и време за смях,
време за тъга и време за ликуване,
време за разхвърляне на камъни и време за събирането им,
време за прегръдки и време да ги отбягваш,
време за търсене и време за загубване,
време за пазене и време за пилеене,
време за раздиране и време за зашиване,
време за мълчание и време за говорене,
време за любов и време за омраза,
време за война и време за мир.

Каква полза за работещия от онова, над което той се труди? 10 Съзрях онази грижа, която Бог даде на хората да се терзаят с нея. 11 (A)Той е устроил всичко да бъде прекрасно в своето време. Той вложи вечността в сърцето на човека, макар и човек да не вниква отначало докрай в онова, което Бог извършва. 12 Аз узнах, че за хората няма нищо по-добро, освен да се веселят и да правят добро през живота си. 13 И ако някой яде и пие, и вкусва блага от всеки свой труд – това е дар от Бога. 14 (B)Разбрах, че всичко, което Бог твори, пребъдва вечно. Към това не може да се прибави нищо, нито да се отнеме от него. А Бог е направил така – да благоговеят пред Него. 15 (C)Каквото е сега, то отдавна съществува, което ще бъде, то вече е било, и ще потърси Бог това, което е изчезнало.

Еднаква участ за всички – праведни и нечестиви, хора и животни

16 (D)Съзрях под слънцето: място за правосъдие, а там – нечестие; място за справедливост, а там – неправда. 17 (E)Помислих си още: Бог ще съди праведния и нечестивия – идва времето за всяко нещо и за всяко дело. 18 Размислях за хората: нека Бог ги подложи на изпитание – да разберат, че те сами по себе си са като животни. 19 (F)Защото участта на хората и участта на животните е еднаква: както едните, така и другите умират, диханието е еднакво у всичките и човек не превъзхожда животното, защото всичко е суета. 20 (G)И всичко отива на едно място: всичко е произлязло от пръстта и всичко ще се върне в пръстта. 21 Кой знае дали духът на човека възлиза нагоре, дали диханието на животното слиза надолу в земята? 22 Тогава проумях, че за човека няма нищо по-добро, освен да се весели заради делата си, понеже това е неговата награда. Защото кой ще го върне после да види онова, което ще бъде след него?

A Time for Everything

There is a time(A) for everything,
    and a season for every activity under the heavens:

    a time to be born and a time to die,
    a time to plant and a time to uproot,(B)
    a time to kill(C) and a time to heal,
    a time to tear down and a time to build,
    a time to weep and a time to laugh,
    a time to mourn and a time to dance,
    a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
    a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
    a time to search and a time to give up,
    a time to keep and a time to throw away,
    a time to tear and a time to mend,
    a time to be silent(D) and a time to speak,
    a time to love and a time to hate,
    a time for war and a time for peace.

What do workers gain from their toil?(E) 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.(F) 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time.(G) He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom(H) what God has done from beginning to end.(I) 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink,(J) and find satisfaction(K) in all their toil—this is the gift of God.(L) 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.(M)

15 Whatever is has already been,(N)
    and what will be has been before;(O)
    and God will call the past to account.[b]

16 And I saw something else under the sun:

In the place of judgment—wickedness was there,
    in the place of justice—wickedness was there.

17 I said to myself,

“God will bring into judgment(P)
    both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
    a time to judge every deed.”(Q)

18 I also said to myself, “As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals.(R) 19 Surely the fate of human beings(S) is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath[c]; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.(T) 21 Who knows if the human spirit rises upward(U) and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”

22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work,(V) because that is their lot.(W) For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?

11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
