Missgärningen hos dottern mitt folk
är större än Sodoms synd.
    Det omstörtades på ett ögonblick,
utan att människohänder rörde vid det.

Hennes furstar var mer glänsande än snö,
de var vitare än mjölk,
    deras hy var rödare än korall,
deras utseende var likt safirens.

Heth

Nu har deras ansikten blivit mörkare än sot,
man känner inte igen dem på gatorna.
Deras hud sitter fastklibbad vid benen,
den har blivit torr som trä.

Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire:

Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.

    their appearance like lapis lazuli.

But now they are blacker(B) than soot;
    they are not recognized in the streets.
Their skin has shriveled on their bones;(C)
    it has become as dry as a stick.
