Judges 9:54-56

⁵⁴^(A)Then he called quickly to the young man his armor-bearer and said to him, “Draw your sword and kill me, lest they say of me, ‘A woman killed him.’” And his young man thrust him through, and he died. ⁵⁵And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, everyone departed to his home. ⁵⁶^(B)Thus God returned the evil of Abimelech, which he committed against his father in killing his seventy brothers.

Judges 9:54-56

New International Version

⁵⁴Hurriedly he called to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and kill me,^(A) so that they can’t say, ‘A woman killed him.’” So his servant ran him through, and he died. ⁵⁵When the Israelites saw that Abimelek was dead, they went home.

⁵⁶Thus God repaid the wickedness that Abimelek had done to his father by murdering his seventy brothers.
