2 Hizo esto para que los que nunca habían estado en el campo de batalla aprendieran cómo hacer la guerra. 3 Quedaron los cinco jefes de los filisteos, todos los cananeos, la gente de Sidón y los heveos que vivían en los montes del Líbano, desde el monte Baal Hermón hasta Lebó Jamat. 4 Dios dejó a esos pueblos en la tierra para probar a los israelitas para ver si obedecerían los mandamientos que el SEÑOR les había dado a sus antepasados por medio de Moisés.

2 (he did this only to teach warfare to the descendants of the Israelites who had not had previous battle experience): 3 the five(A) rulers of the Philistines,(B) all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites(C) living in the Lebanon mountains from Mount Baal Hermon(D) to Lebo Hamath.(E) 4 They were left to test(F) the Israelites to see whether they would obey the Lord’s commands, which he had given their ancestors through Moses.

2 Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;
3 Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath.
4 And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the Lord, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
