17 HUBO un hombre del monte de Ephraim, que se llamaba Michâs.
2 El cual dijo á su madre: Los mil y cien siclos de plata que te fueron hurtados, por lo que tú maldecías oyéndolo yo, he aquí que yo tengo este dinero: yo lo había tomado. Entonces la madre dijo: Bendito seas de Jehová, hijo mío.
3 Y luego que él hubo vuelto á su madre los mil y cien siclos de plata, su madre dijo: Yo he dedicado este dinero á Jehová de mi mano para ti, hijo mío, para que hagas una imagen de talla y de fundición: ahora pues, yo te lo devuelvo.
4 Mas volviendo él á su madre los dineros, tomó su madre doscientos siclos de plata, y diólos al fundidor: y él le hizo de ellos una imagen de talla y de fundición, la cual fué puesta en casa de Michâs.
5 Y tuvo este hombre Michâs casa de dioses, é hízose hacer ephod y teraphim, y consagró uno de sus hijos; y fuéle por sacerdote.
6 En estos días no había rey en Israel: cada uno hacía como mejor le parecía.
7 Y había un joven de Beth-lehem de Judá, de la tribu de Judá, el cual era Levita; y peregrinaba allí.
8 Este hombre se había partido de la ciudad de Beth-lehem de Judá, para ir á vivir donde hallase; y llegando al monte de Ephraim, vino á casa de Michâs, para de allí hacer su camino.
9 Y Michâs le dijo: ¿De dónde vienes? Y el Levita le respondió: Soy de Beth-lehem de Judá, y voy á vivir donde hallare.
10 Entonces Michâs le dijo: Quédate en mi casa, y me serás en lugar de padre y sacerdote; y yo te daré diez siclos de plata por año, y el ordinario de vestidos, y tu comida. Y el Levita se quedó.
11 Acordó pues el Levita en morar con aquel hombre, y él lo tenía como á uno de sus hijos.
12 Y Michâs consagró al Levita, y aquel joven le servía de sacerdote, y estaba en casa de Michâs.
13 Y Michâs dijo: Ahora sé que Jehová me hará bien, pues que el Levita es hecho mi sacerdote.

17 Había un hombre llamado Micaías, que vivía en las montañas de Efraín. 2-3 Un día, le dijo a su madre:
—Te oí maldecir al ladrón que te robó más de mil monedas de plata. Pero en realidad fui yo quien te las quitó. Aquí las tienes.
Y le devolvió las monedas de plata a su madre, quien le dijo:
—¡Dios te bendiga, hijo mío! Ahora aparto esta plata para Dios. Con ella voy a mandar hacer una imagen de madera recubierta de plata, y te la daré a ti.
4 De la plata que le había devuelto su hijo, ella apartó doscientas monedas y se las llevó a un platero, a quien le pidió que hiciera una imagen tallada en madera y recubierta de plata. Después llevó la imagen a la casa de Micaías, 5 quien había hecho un altar en su casa; allí tenía otras imágenes y una túnica sacerdotal, y había nombrado sacerdote a uno de sus hijos. 6 En esa época los israelitas no tenían rey, y cada uno hacía lo que le daba la gana.
7 Había también en ese tiempo un joven de la tribu de Leví, que vivía como extranjero en Belén de Judá. 8 Un día salió de allí en busca de otro lugar donde vivir, y andando por la zona montañosa de Efraín llegó a la casa de Micaías. 9 Éste le preguntó:
—¿De dónde vienes?
Y el joven le contestó:
—De Belén de Judá. Soy descendiente de Leví, y busco un lugar donde vivir.
10 Entonces Micaías le dijo:
—Quédate conmigo, y serás mi sacerdote y consejero. A cambio, yo te daré diez monedas de plata al año, además ropa y comida.
11-12 El joven sacerdote aceptó quedarse a vivir con Micaías, y fue su sacerdote particular. Hasta llegó a ser como uno de sus hijos. 13 Micaías pensaba que, teniendo como sacerdote a un descendiente de Leví, Dios lo ayudaría y todo le saldría bien.

Micah’s Idolatry
17 Now there was a man from the mountains of Ephraim, whose name was (A)Micah. 2 And he said to his mother, “The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from you, and on which you (B)put a curse, even saying it in my ears—here is the silver with me; I took it.”
And his mother said, (C)“May you be blessed by the Lord, my son!” 3 So when he had returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, “I had wholly dedicated the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son, to (D)make a carved image and a molded image; now therefore, I will return it to you.” 4 Thus he returned the silver to his mother. Then his mother (E)took two hundred shekels of silver and gave them to the silversmith, and he made it into a carved image and a molded image; and they were in the house of Micah.
5 The man Micah had a (F)shrine, and made an (G)ephod and (H)household[a] idols; and he consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest. 6 (I)In those days there was no king in Israel; (J)everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
7 Now there was a young man from (K)Bethlehem in Judah, of the family of Judah; he was a Levite, and (L)was staying there. 8 The man departed from the city of Bethlehem in Judah to stay wherever he could find a place. Then he came to the mountains of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, as he journeyed. 9 And Micah said to him, “Where do you come from?”
So he said to him, “I am a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah, and I am on my way to find a place to stay.”
10 Micah said to him, “Dwell with me, (M)and be a (N)father and a priest to me, and I will give you ten shekels of silver per year, a suit of clothes, and your sustenance.” So the Levite went in. 11 Then the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man became like one of his sons to him. 12 So Micah (O)consecrated[b] the Levite, and the young man (P)became his priest, and lived in the house of Micah. 13 Then Micah said, “Now I know that the Lord will be good to me, since I have a Levite as (Q)priest!”

17 Now a man named Micah(A) from the hill country of Ephraim 2 said to his mother, “The eleven hundred shekels[a] of silver that were taken from you and about which I heard you utter a curse—I have that silver with me; I took it.”
Then his mother said, “The Lord bless you,(B) my son!”
3 When he returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, she said, “I solemnly consecrate my silver to the Lord for my son to make an image overlaid with silver.(C) I will give it back to you.”
4 So after he returned the silver to his mother, she took two hundred shekels[b] of silver and gave them to a silversmith, who used them to make the idol.(D) And it was put in Micah’s house.
5 Now this man Micah had a shrine,(E) and he made an ephod(F) and some household gods(G) and installed(H) one of his sons as his priest.(I) 6 In those days Israel had no king;(J) everyone did as they saw fit.(K)
7 A young Levite(L) from Bethlehem in Judah,(M) who had been living within the clan of Judah, 8 left that town in search of some other place to stay. On his way[c] he came to Micah’s house in the hill country of Ephraim.
9 Micah asked him, “Where are you from?”
“I’m a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah,(N)” he said, “and I’m looking for a place to stay.”
10 Then Micah said to him, “Live with me and be my father(O) and priest,(P) and I’ll give you ten shekels[d] of silver a year, your clothes and your food.” 11 So the Levite agreed to live with him, and the young man became like one of his sons to him. 12 Then Micah installed(Q) the Levite, and the young man became his priest(R) and lived in his house. 13 And Micah said, “Now I know that the Lord will be good to me, since this Levite has become my priest.”(S)
