El santuario privado de Micá
17 Había en la montaña de Efraín un hombre llamado Micaías. 2 Dijo a su madre:
— Aquellos mil cien siclos de plata que te quitaron, por lo que tú lanzaste una maldición que yo oí con mis oídos…, esa plata la tengo yo; yo te la robé. Pues ahora te la devuelvo.
Su madre le respondió:
— Que mi hijo sea bendito del Señor.
3 Y él le devolvió los mil cien siclos de plata. Y su madre dijo:
— Consagro solemnemente, en favor de mi hijo, esta plata mía al Señor, para hacer con ella una imagen de madera y un ídolo de fundición.
4 Tomó su madre doscientos siclos de plata y se los entregó al fundidor. Este le hizo una imagen de madera y un ídolo de metal fundido, que quedó en casa de Micaías. 5 Este Micá tenía un santuario en su casa; hizo un efod y unos terafín y consagró sacerdote a uno de sus hijos. 6 En aquel tiempo no había rey en Israel y hacía cada uno lo que le venía en gana.
7 Un joven de Belén de Judá, de la familia de Judá, que era levita, residía allí como inmigrante. 8 Este hombre dejó la ciudad de Belén de Judá para ir a residir donde pudiera. Puesto en camino, llegó a la montaña de Efraín, a la casa de Micá. 9 Micá le preguntó:
— ¿De dónde vienes?
Le respondió:
— Soy un levita de Belén de Judá. Vengo de paso para residir donde pueda.
10 Micá le dijo:
— Quédate en mi casa, y serás mi padre y mi sacerdote; yo te daré diez siclos de plata al año, vestido y comida.
11 El levita accedió a quedarse en casa de aquel hombre y el joven fue para él como uno de sus hijos. 12 Micá consagró al joven levita para que fuera su sacerdote. Y se quedó el joven en casa de Micá 13 que dijo:
— Ahora estoy seguro de que el Señor me favorecerá, porque tengo a este levita como sacerdote.

Los ídolos de Micaías
17 En la región montañosa de Efraín había un hombre llamado Micaías, 2 quien dijo a su madre:
—Con respecto a los mil siclos[a] de plata que te robaron y sobre los cuales te oí pronunciar una maldición, yo tengo esa plata; yo te la robé.
Su madre dijo:
—¡Que el Señor te bendiga, hijo mío!
3 Cuando Micaías devolvió a su madre los mil siclos de plata, ella dijo:
—Solemnemente consagro mi plata al Señor para que mi hijo haga una imagen tallada y un ídolo de fundición.[b] Ahora pues, te la devuelvo.
4 Cuando él le devolvió la plata a su madre, ella tomó doscientos siclos[c] de plata y se los dio a un platero, quien hizo con eso una imagen tallada y un ídolo de fundición, que fueron puestos en la casa de Micaías.
5 Este Micaías tenía un santuario. Hizo un efod y algunos ídolos familiares,[d] y consagró a uno de sus hijos como sacerdote. 6 En aquella época no había rey en Israel; cada uno hacía lo que le parecía mejor.
7 Un joven levita, que vivía como extranjero en Belén de Judá, 8 salió de aquella ciudad en busca de algún otro lugar donde vivir. En el curso de su viaje[e] llegó a la casa de Micaías en la región montañosa de Efraín.
9 —¿De dónde vienes? —preguntó Micaías.
—Soy levita, de Belén de Judá —contestó él—, y estoy buscando un lugar donde vivir.
10 —Vive conmigo —le propuso Micaías—, y sé mi padre y sacerdote; yo te daré diez siclos[f] de plata al año, además de ropa y comida.
11 El joven levita aceptó quedarse a vivir con él y fue para Micaías como uno de sus hijos. 12 Luego Micaías invistió al levita, y así el joven se convirtió en su sacerdote y vivió en su casa. 13 Y Micaías dijo: «Ahora sé que el Señor me hará prosperar, porque tengo a un levita como sacerdote».

Micah’s Idols
17 Now a man named Micah(A) from the hill country of Ephraim 2 said to his mother, “The eleven hundred shekels[a] of silver that were taken from you and about which I heard you utter a curse—I have that silver with me; I took it.”
Then his mother said, “The Lord bless you,(B) my son!”
3 When he returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, she said, “I solemnly consecrate my silver to the Lord for my son to make an image overlaid with silver.(C) I will give it back to you.”
4 So after he returned the silver to his mother, she took two hundred shekels[b] of silver and gave them to a silversmith, who used them to make the idol.(D) And it was put in Micah’s house.
5 Now this man Micah had a shrine,(E) and he made an ephod(F) and some household gods(G) and installed(H) one of his sons as his priest.(I) 6 In those days Israel had no king;(J) everyone did as they saw fit.(K)
7 A young Levite(L) from Bethlehem in Judah,(M) who had been living within the clan of Judah, 8 left that town in search of some other place to stay. On his way[c] he came to Micah’s house in the hill country of Ephraim.
9 Micah asked him, “Where are you from?”
“I’m a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah,(N)” he said, “and I’m looking for a place to stay.”
10 Then Micah said to him, “Live with me and be my father(O) and priest,(P) and I’ll give you ten shekels[d] of silver a year, your clothes and your food.” 11 So the Levite agreed to live with him, and the young man became like one of his sons to him. 12 Then Micah installed(Q) the Levite, and the young man became his priest(R) and lived in his house. 13 And Micah said, “Now I know that the Lord will be good to me, since this Levite has become my priest.”(S)

2 And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spakest of also in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my son.
3 And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the Lord from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.
4 Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah.
5 And the man Micah had an house of gods, and made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.
6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
7 And there was a young man out of Bethlehemjudah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.
8 And the man departed out of the city from Bethlehemjudah to sojourn where he could find a place: and he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.
9 And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Bethlehemjudah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.
10 And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.
11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.
12 And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.
13 Then said Micah, Now know I that the Lord will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.

Mika och hans avgudar
17 I Efraims bergsbygd bodde en man som hette Mika.
2 En dag sa han till sin mor: När någon stal dina 1.100 siklar silver förbannade du tjuven. Det var faktiskt jag som stal dem!Gud välsigne dig, för att du bekände det, svarade hans mor.
3 När han lämnade tillbaka pengarna till henne tillade hon: Jag tänkte ge Herren pengarna för din räkning. Du ska få en avgudabild överdragen med silver och en gjuten avgud.
4-5 Hon tog sedan fram 200 siklar och gick till en silversmed som gjorde en snidad avgudabild och en gjuten avgud. Dessa placerade hon i Mikas hus. Mika hade ett avgudatempel med en efod och några husgudar, och han hade avskilt en av sina söner som präst.
6 Vid denna tid fanns det inte någon kung i Israel, utan var och en gjorde som han ville och ansåg vara rätt.
7-8 En dag kom en ung präst från Betlehem i Juda till trakten av Efraims kullar. Han var ute och letade efter en plats där han kunde bo, och han råkade hamna hos Mika.
9 Varifrån kommer du? frågade Mika honom.Jag är präst och kommer från Betlehem i Juda, svarade han. Jag är ute och letar efter någonstans att slå mig ner.
10-11 Du kan stanna här hos mig och bli min präst, sa Mika. Jag ska ge dig tio siklar silver om året, nya kläder varje år och gratis kost och logi.Den unge mannen lät sig övertalas och blev som son i huset.
12 Mika invigde honom som sin personlige präst.
13 Nu vet jag att Herren verkligen kommer att välsigna mig, utropade Mika, eftersom jag har en riktig präst som arbetar för mig!
