Shamgar

³¹ After him was ^(A)Shamgar the son of Anath, who killed 600 of the Philistines ^(B)with an oxgoad, and he also ^(C)saved Israel.

10 After Abimelech there arose to ^(A)save Israel Tola the son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he lived at Shamir in ^(B)the hill country of Ephraim.

¹² The Sidonians also, and ^(A)the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you, and you cried out to me, and I ^(B)saved you out of their hand. ¹³ Yet you have ^(C)forsaken me and served other gods; therefore I will save you no more.

² And Jephthah said to them, “I and my people had a great dispute with the Ammonites, and when I called you, you did not save me from their hand. ³ And when I saw that you would not save me, ^(A)I took my life in my hand and crossed over against the Ammonites, and the Lord gave them into my hand. Why then have you come up to me this day to fight against me?”

⁵ for behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. ^(A)No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be ^(B)a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall ^(C)begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”
