^23 (A)Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the lords of Shechem; and the lords of Shechem ^(B)dealt treacherously with Abimelech,

¹⁵ Saul’s servants then said to him, “Behold now, an evil spirit from God is terrorizing you. ¹⁶ Let our lord now speak to your servants who are before you. Let them seek a man who is a skillful musician on the harp; and it shall be that when the evil spirit from God is on you, ^(A)he shall play the harp with his hand, and you will be well.”

¹⁰ Now it happened on the next day that ^(A)an evil spirit from God ^[a]came mightily upon Saul, and ^(B)he raved in the midst of the house. Now David was playing the harp with his hand, ^[b](C)as usual; and ^[c](D)a spear was in Saul’s hand.

⁹ Now there was ^(A)an evil spirit from Yahweh on Saul as he was sitting in his house ^(B)with his spear in his hand, ^(C)and David was playing the harp with his hand.

¹⁹ Then ^[a]Micaiah said, “Therefore, hear the word of Yahweh. ^(A)I saw Yahweh sitting on His throne, and ^(B)all the host of heaven standing by Him on His right and on His left. ²⁰ And Yahweh said, ‘Who will entice Ahab so that he will go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said this while another said that. ²¹ Then a spirit came forward and stood before Yahweh and said, ‘I will entice him.’ ²² And Yahweh said to him, ‘How?’ And he said, ‘I will go out and ^(C)be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ Then He said, ‘You shall entice him and also prevail. Go out and do so.’
