Forty Years of Peace
28 So Midian was subdued before the sons of Israel, and they did not lift up their heads anymore. And the land was undisturbed for forty years in the days of Gideon.
29 Then (A)Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and lived in his own house. 30 Now Gideon had (B)seventy sons who [a]were his direct descendants, for he had many wives. 31 His concubine who was in Shechem also bore him a son, and he [b]named him Abimelech. 32 And Gideon the son of Joash died at a ripe old age and was buried in the tomb of his father Joash, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

Gideon’s Death
28 Thus Midian was subdued before the Israelites and did not raise its head(A) again. During Gideon’s lifetime, the land had peace(B) forty years.
29 Jerub-Baal(C) son of Joash(D) went back home to live. 30 He had seventy sons(E) of his own, for he had many wives. 31 His concubine,(F) who lived in Shechem, also bore him a son, whom he named Abimelek.(G) 32 Gideon son of Joash died at a good old age(H) and was buried in the tomb of his father Joash in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
