²⁵ Now it happened on the same night that Yahweh said to him, “Take your father’s bull ^[a]and a second bull seven years old, and pull down the altar of Baal which belongs to your father, and cut down the ^[b](A)Asherah that is beside it,

³³ Then it happened, as soon as Gideon was dead, ^(A)that the sons of Israel turned back and played the harlot with the Baals and made ^(B)Baal-berith their god.

Israel Forsakes Yahweh Again

⁶ Then the sons of Israel again did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh and ^(A)served the Baals and the Ashtaroth, the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, ^(B)the gods of the sons of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; thus ^(C)they forsook Yahweh and did not serve Him.
