Othniel, the First Judge

⁷ The Israelites did what was evil in the Lord’s sight; they forgot the Lord their God^(A) and worshiped the Baals and the Asherahs.

³³ When Gideon died, the Israelites turned and prostituted^(A) themselves by worshiping the Baals and made Baal-berith^[a] their god. ³⁴ The Israelites did not remember the Lord their God^(B) who had rescued them from the hand of the enemies around them.
