27 When he arrived in the hill country of Ephraim, he blew a trumpet as a call to arms and mustered an army under his own command.

28 “Follow me,” he told them, “for the Lord has put your enemies, the Moabites, at your mercy!”

The army then proceeded to seize the fords of the Jordan River near Moab, preventing anyone from crossing. 29 Then they attacked the Moabites and killed about ten thousand of the strongest and most skillful of their fighting men, letting not one escape.

28 “Follow me,” he ordered, “for the Lord has given Moab,(B) your enemy, into your hands.(C)” So they followed him down and took possession of the fords of the Jordan(D) that led to Moab; they allowed no one to cross over. 29 At that time they struck down about ten thousand Moabites, all vigorous and strong; not one escaped.
