^10 (A)And the Spirit of Yahweh came upon him, and he judged Israel. And he went out to war, and Yahweh gave Cushan-rishathaim king of ^[a]Mesopotamia into his hand. So his hand was strong against Cushan-rishathaim.

³⁴ But ^(A)the Spirit of Yahweh clothed Gideon; and he ^(B)blew a trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called together to follow him.

Jephthah Vows a Burnt Offering

²⁹ Now ^(A)the Spirit of Yahweh came upon Jephthah, so that he passed through Gilead and Manasseh; then he passed through Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he went on to the sons of Ammon.

²⁵ And ^(A)the Spirit of Yahweh began to stir him in ^[a](B)Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

^6 (A)And the Spirit of Yahweh ^[a]came upon him mightily, so that ^(B)he tore it as one tears a young goat, though he had nothing in his hand; but he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.

^10 (A)And they came to ^[a]the hill there, and behold, a group of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God ^[b]came upon him mightily, so that he prophesied among them.

¹³ Then Samuel took the horn of oil and ^(A)anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and ^(B)the Spirit of Yahweh ^[a]came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
