²⁶ Then ^(A)all the sons of Israel and all the people went up and came to Bethel and wept; thus they remained there before Yahweh and fasted that day until evening. And they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before Yahweh.

⁶ And they gathered to Mizpah and drew water and ^(A)poured it out before Yahweh and ^(B)fasted on that day and said there, “^(C)We have sinned against Yahweh.” And Samuel judged the sons of Israel at Mizpah.

³ And Jehoshaphat was afraid and ^[a](A)set his face to seek Yahweh, and ^(B)called for a fast throughout all Judah.

¹⁶ “Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Susa, and fast for me; ^(A)do not eat or drink for ^(B)three days, night or day. I and my young women also will fast in the same way. And thus I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish.”

⁵ And the ^[a]people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a ^(A)fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them.
