² But she was unfaithful to him and returned home to her father in Bethlehem in Judah, and was away from the Levite for four months. ³ Then he went after her, to speak kindly with her and convince her to come home with him. He brought his servant and two donkeys with him. When the Levite reached her father’s house, the woman’s father saw him and went joyfully out to welcome him and brought him into the house.

⁴ Her father made him stay for three days, so the Levite stayed there, eating and drinking.
