⁵⁵ And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, everyone departed to his home.

³⁵ And the battle continued that day, and the king was propped up in his chariot facing the Syrians, until at evening he died. And the blood of the wound flowed into the bottom of the chariot. ³⁶ And about sunset a cry went through the army, “Every man to his city, and every man to his country!”

²¹ That is not true. But a man of ^(A)the hill country of Ephraim, called Sheba the son of Bichri, has lifted up his hand against King David. Give up him alone, and I will withdraw from the city.” And the woman said to Joab, “Behold, his head shall be thrown to you over the wall.” ²² Then the woman went to all the people ^(B)in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it out to Joab. So he blew the trumpet, and they dispersed from the city, ^(C)every man to his home. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.

¹⁶ Then Joab blew the trumpet, and the troops came back from pursuing Israel, for Joab restrained them.
