⁴⁹ So each of the people likewise cut down his own bough and followed Abimelech, put them against the ^[a]stronghold, and set the stronghold on fire above them, so that all the people of the tower of Shechem died, about a thousand men and women.

¹⁶ For ^(A)where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

¹⁵ But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

²⁰ But if not, ^(A)let fire come from Abimelech and devour the men of Shechem and Beth Millo; and let fire come from the men of Shechem and from Beth Millo and devour Abimelech!”
