⁴ And Gideon came to the Jordan and crossed over, he and ^(A)the 300 men who were with him, exhausted yet pursuing.

⁹ And ^(A)let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, ^(B)if we do not give up.

¹⁶ So we do not lose heart. ^(A)Though our outer self^[a] is wasting away, ^(B)our inner self ^(C)is being renewed day by day.

Jesus, Founder and Perfecter of Our Faith

12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and ^(A)sin which clings so closely, and ^(B)let us run ^(C)with endurance the race that is ^(D)set before us, ² looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, ^(E)who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising ^(F)the shame, and ^(G)is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Do Not Grow Weary

^3 (H)Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or ^(I)fainthearted. ⁴ In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

¹⁰ But David pursued, he and four hundred men. ^(A)Two hundred stayed behind, who were too exhausted to cross the brook Besor.

²⁸ Then one of the people said, “Your father strictly charged the people with an oath, saying, ‘Cursed be the man who eats food this day.’” And the people were ^(A)faint. ²⁹ Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land. See how my eyes have become bright because I tasted a little of this honey.

⁸ We are ^(A)afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; ⁹ persecuted, but ^(B)not forsaken; ^(C)struck down, but not destroyed;

³¹ They struck down the Philistines that day from ^(A)Michmash to ^(B)Aijalon. And the people were very ^(C)faint. ³² The people ^(D)pounced on the spoil and took sheep and oxen and calves and slaughtered them on the ground. And the people ate them ^(E)with the blood.

²⁵ And they captured ^(A)the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb ^(B)at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb they killed at the winepress of Zeeb. Then they pursued Midian, and they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon ^(C)across the Jordan.
