²¹ Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, “Rise yourself and fall upon us, for as the man is, so is his strength.” And Gideon arose and ^(A)killed Zebah and Zalmunna, and he took ^(B)the crescent ornaments that were on the necks of their camels.

¹⁸ In that day the Lord will take away ^(A)the finery of the anklets, the ^(B)headbands, and the ^(C)crescents;

²⁶ And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was 1,700 shekels^[a] of gold, besides ^(A)the crescent ornaments and ^(B)the pendants and the purple garments worn by the kings of Midian, and besides the collars that were around the necks of their camels.

⁶ And in those days ^(A)people will seek death and will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them.

⁵ And when his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell upon his sword and died with him.

^3 (A)The battle pressed hard against Saul, and the archers found him, and he was badly wounded by the archers.

^54 (A)Then he called quickly to the young man his armor-bearer and said to him, “Draw your sword and kill me, lest they say of me, ‘A woman killed him.’” And his young man thrust him through, and he died.
