⁴ They camped on the land and ruined the crops^(A) all the way to Gaza^(B) and did not spare a living thing for Israel, neither sheep nor cattle nor donkeys.

¹⁶ then I will do this to you: I will bring on you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever^(A) that will destroy your sight and sap your strength.^(B) You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.^(C)

⁵¹ They will devour the young of your livestock and the crops of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine^(A) or olive oil,^(B) nor any calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks until you are ruined.^(C)

³³ A people that you do not know will eat what your land and labor produce, and you will have nothing but cruel oppression^(A) all your days.^(B)

³⁰ You will be pledged to be married to a woman, but another will take her and rape her.^(A) You will build a house, but you will not live in it.^(B) You will plant a vineyard, but you will not even begin to enjoy its fruit.^{(C) 31} Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will eat none of it. Your donkey will be forcibly taken from you and will not be returned. Your sheep will be given to your enemies, and no one will rescue them.

¹⁰ Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain^(A) of the Jordan toward Zoar^(B) was well watered, like the garden of the Lord,^(C) like the land of Egypt.^(D) (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom^(E) and Gomorrah.)^(F)
