¹⁹ So Gideon went into his house and prepared a kid and unleavened cakes from an ephah of flour; the meat he put in a basket, and the broth he put in a pot and brought them to him under the oak and presented them.^(A)

⁶ And Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah and said, “Make ready quickly three measures^[a] of choice flour, knead it, and make cakes.” ⁷ Abraham ran to the herd and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to the servant, who hastened to prepare it. ⁸ Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared and set it before them, and he stood by them under the tree while they ate.^(A)

¹⁵ Manoah said to the angel of the Lord, “Allow us to detain you and prepare a kid for you.”^{(A) 16} The angel of the Lord said to Manoah, “If you detain me, I will not eat your food, but if you want to prepare a burnt offering, then offer it to the Lord.” (For Manoah did not know that he was the angel of the Lord.)^{(B) 17} Then Manoah said to the angel of the Lord, “What is your name, so that we may honor you when your words come true?”^{(C) 18} But the angel of the Lord said to him, “Why do you ask my name? It is too wonderful.”^(D)

¹⁹ So Manoah took the kid with the grain offering and offered it on the rock to the Lord, to him who works^[a] wonders.^[b](E)

⁴ “When you present a grain offering baked in the oven, it shall be of choice flour: unleavened cakes mixed with oil or unleavened wafers spread with oil.
