Othniel

⁷ So the children of Israel did ^(A)evil in the sight of the Lord. They ^(B)forgot the Lord their God, and served the Baals and ^[a]Asherahs.

¹³ But you shall ^(A)destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and ^(B)cut down their wooden images

⁶ And he brought out the ^(A)wooden^[a] image from the house of the Lord, to the Brook Kidron outside Jerusalem, burned it at the Brook Kidron and ground it to ^(B)ashes, and threw its ashes on ^(C)the graves of the common people.

¹⁹ Also his prayer and how God received his entreaty, and all his sin and trespass, and the sites where he built ^[a]high places and set up wooden images and carved images, before he was humbled, indeed they are written among the sayings of ^[b]Hozai.

³ For he rebuilt the ^[a]high places which Hezekiah his father had ^(A)broken down; he raised up altars for the Baals, and ^(B)made wooden images; and he worshiped ^(C)all ^[b]the host of heaven and served them.

¹⁸ Therefore they left the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and served ^(A)wooden images and idols; and ^(B)wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem because of their trespass.

¹⁶ Also he removed ^(A)Maachah, the ^[a]mother of Asa the king, from being queen mother, because she had made an obscene image of ^[b]Asherah; and Asa cut down her obscene image, then crushed and burned it by the Brook Kidron.

¹⁴ And he ^(A)broke in pieces the sacred pillars and cut down the wooden images, and filled their places with the bones of men.

¹⁹ Now therefore, send and gather all Israel to me on ^(A)Mount Carmel, the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, ^(B)and the four hundred prophets of ^[a]Asherah, who ^[b]eat at Jezebel’s table.”
