21 Now the men of Israel had sworn ^(A)at Mizpah, “No one of us shall give his daughter in marriage to Benjamin.”

20 Then ^(A)all the people of Israel came out, ^(B)from Dan to Beersheba, including the land of Gilead, and the congregation assembled as one man to the Lord at ^(C)Mizpah.

²³ And he vowed to her, “Whatever you ask me, I will give you, ^(A)up to half of my kingdom.”

A Plot to Kill Paul

¹² When it was day, ^(A)the Jews made a plot and ^(B)bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

^2 [a] Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore ^(A)let your words be few.

¹⁸ Yet we cannot give them wives from our daughters.” ^(A)For the people of Israel had sworn, “Cursed be he who gives a wife to Benjamin.”

⁸ And all the people arose as one man, saying, “None of us will go to his tent, and none of us will return to his house.

² For I bear them witness that ^(A)they have a zeal for God, ^(B)but not according to knowledge.

²⁸ Then one of the people said, “Your father strictly charged the people with an oath, saying, ‘Cursed be the man who eats food this day.’” And the people were ^(A)faint. ²⁹ Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land. See how my eyes have become bright because I tasted a little of this honey.
