¹⁴ The Benjaminites came together out of the towns to Gibeah, to go out to battle against the Israelites.

¹³ Jeroboam had sent an ambush around to come on them from behind; thus his troops^[a] were in front of Judah, and the ambush was behind them.

²³ But Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his territory. Sihon gathered all his people together and went out against Israel to the wilderness; he came to Jahaz and fought against Israel.^(A)
