Israel’s War with the Benjamites

20 So ^(A)all the children of Israel came out, from ^(B)Dan to ^(C)Beersheba, as well as from the land of Gilead, and the congregation gathered together as one man before the Lord ^(D)at Mizpah.

¹¹ Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him ^(A)head and commander over them; and Jephthah spoke all his words ^(B)before the Lord in Mizpah.

¹⁰ to transfer the kingdom from the ^[a]house of Saul, and set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, ^(A)from Dan to Beersheba.”

Saul Proclaimed King

¹⁷ Then Samuel called the people together ^(A)to the Lord ^(B)at Mizpah,

²⁰ And all Israel ^(A)from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel had been ^[a]established as a prophet of the Lord.

⁵ The children of Israel said, “Who is there among all the tribes of Israel who did not come up with the assembly to the Lord?” ^(A)For they had made a great oath concerning anyone who had not come up to the Lord at Mizpah, saying, “He shall surely be put to death.”

¹² And when the children of Israel heard of it, ^(A)the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered together at Shiloh to go to war against them.

Ezra Reads and Explains the Law

8 Now all ^(A)the people gathered together as one man in the open square that was ^(B)in front of the Water Gate; and they told Ezra the ^(C)scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses, which the Lord had commanded Israel.

² So the king said to Joab the commander of the army who was with him, “Now go throughout all the tribes of Israel, ^(A)from Dan to Beersheba, and count the people, that ^(B)I may know the number of the people.”

Worship Restored at Jerusalem

3 And when the ^(A)seventh month had come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered together as one man to Jerusalem.
