⁵ And on the fourth day they arose early in the morning, and he prepared to go, but the girl's father said to his son-in-law, ^(A)“Strengthen your heart with a morsel of bread, and after that you may go.”

⁸ And on the fifth day he arose early in the morning to depart. And the girl's father said, ^(A)“Strengthen your heart and wait until the day declines.” So they ate, both of them.

⁵ while I bring a morsel of bread, that ^(A)you may refresh yourselves, and after that you may pass on—^(B)since you have come to your servant.” So they said, “Do as you have said.”

¹⁹ and ^(A)taking food, he was strengthened.

For ^(B)some days he was with the disciples at Damascus.

³⁴ Jesus said to them, ^(A)“My food is ^(B)to do the will of him who sent me and ^(C)to accomplish his work.

²⁷ But Jonathan had not heard his father charge the people with the oath, ^(A)so he put out the tip of the staff that was in his hand and dipped it in the honeycomb and put his hand to his mouth, and his eyes became bright. ²⁸ Then one of the people said, “Your father strictly charged the people with an oath, saying, ‘Cursed be the man who eats food this day.’” And the people were ^(B)faint. ²⁹ Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land. See how my eyes have become bright because I tasted a little of this honey.
