¹⁰ But the man would not spend the night. He rose up and departed and arrived opposite ^(A)Jebus (that is, Jerusalem). He had with him a couple of saddled donkeys, and his concubine was with him.

⁶³ But the ^(A)Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, ^(B)the people of Judah could not drive out, ^(C)so the Jebusites dwell with the people of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

⁸ Then the boundary goes up by ^(A)the Valley of the Son of Hinnom at the southern shoulder of the Jebusite (^(B)that is, Jerusalem). And the boundary goes up to the top of the mountain that lies over against the Valley of Hinnom, on the west, at the northern end of the Valley ^(C)of Rephaim.

David Takes Jerusalem

⁴ And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, ^(A)that is, Jebus, where the Jebusites were, ^(B)the inhabitants of the land. ⁵ The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here.” Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, that is, the city of David.

^6 (A)And the king and his men went to Jerusalem ^(B)against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who said to David, “You will not come in here, but the blind and the lame will ward you off”—thinking, “David cannot come in here.”

^8 (A)And the men of Judah fought against Jerusalem and captured it and struck it with the edge of the sword and set the city on fire.

²⁸ Zela, Haeleph, ^(A)Jebus^[a] (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah^[b] and Kiriath-jearim^[c]—fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the people of Benjamin according to its clans.
