¹⁰ When you get there, you will find an unsuspecting people and a spacious land that God has put into your hands, a land that lacks nothing^(A) whatever.^(B)”

²⁷ Then they took what Micah had made, and his priest, and went on to Laish, against a people at peace and secure.^(A) They attacked them with the sword and burned^(B) down their city.^(C)

⁷ So the five men^(A) left and came to Laish,^(B) where they saw that the people were living in safety, like the Sidonians, at peace and secure.^(C) And since their land lacked nothing, they were prosperous.^[a] Also, they lived a long way from the Sidonians^(D) and had no relationship with anyone else.^[b]

¹⁷ Command those who are rich^(A) in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth,^(B) which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God,^(C) who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.^(D)

⁶ On that day I swore^(A) to them that I would bring them out of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey,^(B) the most beautiful of all lands.^(C)

¹⁶ The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city!^(A)

¹¹ But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys^(A) that drinks rain from heaven.^{(B) 12} It is a land the Lord your God cares for; the eyes^(C) of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.

⁷ For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land^(A)—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills;^{(B) 8} a land with wheat and barley,^(C) vines^(D) and fig trees,^(E) pomegranates, olive oil and honey;^{(F) 9} a land where bread^(G) will not be scarce and you will lack nothing;^(H) a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.^(I)

Obedience Commanded

4 Now, Israel, hear the decrees^(A) and laws I am about to teach^(B) you. Follow them so that you may live^(C) and may go in and take possession of the land the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.
