¹² So Micah installed the Levite, and the young man became his priest and was in the house of Micah.^(A)

³⁰ Then the Danites set up the idol for themselves. Jonathan son of Gershom son of Moses^[a] and his sons were priests to the tribe of the Danites until the time the land went into captivity.^(A)

³³ Even after this event Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way but made priests for the high places again from among all the people; any who wanted to be priests he consecrated for the high places.^{(A) 34} This matter became sin to the house of Jeroboam, so as to cut it off and to destroy it from the face of the earth.^(B)

³¹ He also made houses^[a] on high places and appointed priests from among all the people who were not Levites.^(A)

⁸ Then Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you Levites! ⁹ Is it too little for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel to allow you to approach him in order to perform the duties of the Lord’s tabernacle and to stand before the congregation and serve them?^{(A) 10} He has allowed you to approach him, and all your brother Levites with you, yet you seek the priesthood as well!

⁵ Then he spoke to Korah and all his congregation, saying, “In the morning the Lord will make known who is his and who is holy and who will be allowed to approach him; the one whom he will choose he will allow to approach him.^(A)
