³¹ Then his brothers and his father’s whole family went down to get him. They brought him back and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the tomb of Manoah^(A) his father. He had led^[a](B) Israel twenty years.^(C)

²⁰ Samson led^[a] Israel for twenty years^(A) in the days of the Philistines.

²⁵ and the Spirit of the Lord began to stir^(A) him while he was in Mahaneh Dan,^(B) between Zorah and Eshtaol.

² A certain man of Zorah,^(A) named Manoah,^(B) from the clan of the Danites,^(C) had a wife who was childless,^(D) unable to give birth.

³⁹ He was accompanied by Nicodemus,^(A) the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.^{[a] 40} Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen.^(B) This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.^{(C) 41} At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. ⁴² Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation^(D) and since the tomb was nearby,^(E) they laid Jesus there.
