¹⁸ When Delilah saw that he had told her everything, she sent word to the rulers of the Philistines^(A), “Come back once more; he has told me everything.” So the rulers of the Philistines returned with the silver in their hands.^(B)

¹⁰ For the love of money^(A) is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith^(B) and pierced themselves with many griefs.^(C)

¹⁵ and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver.^(A)

⁵ The rulers of the Philistines^(A) went to her and said, “See if you can lure^(B) him into showing you the secret of his great strength^(C) and how we can overpower him so we may tie him up and subdue him. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred shekels^[a] of silver.”^(D)

⁵ For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater^(A)—has any inheritance^(B) in the kingdom of Christ and of God.^[a](C)

²⁰ Ahab said to Elijah, “So you have found me, my enemy!”^(A)
