^6 (A)Then the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, and although he had nothing in his hand, he tore the lion in pieces as one tears a young goat. But he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done.

^10 (A)The Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord gave Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. And his hand prevailed over Cushan-rishathaim.

^6 (A)And the Spirit of God rushed upon Saul when he heard these words, and his anger was greatly kindled.

^25 (A)And the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan, between ^(B)Zorah and Eshtaol.

^8 (A)Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was ^(B)to destroy the works of the devil.

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and ^(A)learn from me, for I am ^(B)gentle and lowly in heart, and ^(C)you will find rest for your souls.

⁶ Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to ^(A)Zerubbabel: ^(B)Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.

⁴⁶ This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. ^(A)And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day ^(B)to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, ^(C)that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,

³⁴ But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep sheep for his father. And when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb from the flock, ³⁵ I went after him and struck him and delivered it out of his mouth. And if he arose against me, I caught him by his beard and struck him and killed him. ³⁶ Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, ^(A)for he has defied the armies of the living God.” ³⁷ And David said, ^(B)“The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, ^(C)and the Lord be with you!”
