²⁵ and the Spirit of the Lord began to stir^(A) him while he was in Mahaneh Dan,^(B) between Zorah and Eshtaol.

¹⁰ The Spirit of the Lord came on him,^(A) so that he became Israel’s judge^[a] and went to war. The Lord gave Cushan-Rishathaim^(B) king of Aram^(C) into the hands of Othniel, who overpowered him.

³³ In the western foothills:

³⁴ For the one whom God has sent^(A) speaks the words of God, for God^[a] gives the Spirit^(B) without limit.

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness^(A)

4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted^[a](B) by the devil.^(C)

⁶ When Saul heard their words, the Spirit^(A) of God came powerfully upon him, and he burned with anger.

¹¹ Then six hundred men^(A) of the Danites,^(B) armed for battle, set out from Zorah and Eshtaol. ¹² On their way they set up camp near Kiriath Jearim^(C) in Judah. This is why the place west of Kiriath Jearim is called Mahaneh Dan^[a](D) to this day.

²⁹ Then the Spirit^(A) of the Lord came on Jephthah. He crossed Gilead and Manasseh, passed through Mizpah^(B) of Gilead, and from there he advanced against the Ammonites.^(C)

³⁴ Then the Spirit of the Lord came on^(A) Gideon, and he blew a trumpet,^(B) summoning the Abiezrites^(C) to follow him.
