⁷ But Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, “Are you not the very ones who rejected me and drove me out of my father’s house? So why do you come to me now when you are in trouble?”

²⁷ Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, seeing that you hate me and have sent me away from you?”^(A)

⁹ I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not but are lying—I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and they will learn that I have loved you.^(A)

⁹ “The patriarchs, jealous of Joseph, sold him into Egypt; but God was with him^{(A) 10} and rescued him from all his afflictions and enabled him to win favor and to show wisdom when he stood before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who appointed him ruler over Egypt and over all his household.^{(B) 11} Now there came a famine throughout Egypt and Canaan and great suffering, and our ancestors could find no food.^{(C) 12} But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent our ancestors there on their first visit.^{(D) 13} On the second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and Joseph’s family became known to Pharaoh.^{(E) 14} Then Joseph sent and invited his father Jacob and all his relatives to come to him, seventy-five in all;^(F)

⁴ Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come closer to me.” And they came closer. He said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.^{(A) 5} And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.^(B)

²⁷ Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him, for he is our brother, our own flesh.” And his brothers agreed.^(A)
