¹⁶ but when they came up from Egypt, Israel went through the wilderness ^(A)to the Red Sea and ^(B)came to Kadesh.

⁴⁰ But as for you, ^(A)turn, and journey into the wilderness in the direction of the Red Sea.’

^25 (A)Now, since the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the valleys, ^(B)turn tomorrow and set out for the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.”

The Death of Miriam

20 And the people of Israel, the whole congregation, came ^(A)into the wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people stayed in Kadesh. And ^(B)Miriam died there and was buried there.

²⁶ And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at ^(A)Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.

⁶ For the people of Israel walked ^(A)forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, the men of war who came out of Egypt, perished, because they did not obey the voice of the Lord; the Lord ^(B)swore to them that he would not let them see the land that the Lord had sworn to their fathers to give to us, ^(C)a land flowing with milk and honey.

⁴⁶ So ^(A)you remained at Kadesh many days, the days that you remained there.

⁷ Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat (that is, ^(A)Kadesh) and defeated all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who were dwelling ^(B)in Hazazon-tamar.
