³⁷But first let me do this one thing: Let me go up and roam in the hills and weep with my friends for two months, because I will die a virgin.”

Judges 11:37

New International Version

³⁷But grant me this one request,” she said. “Give me two months to roam the hills and weep with my friends, because I will never marry.”

²⁵“How kind the Lord is!” she exclaimed. “He has taken away my disgrace of having no children.”

²⁵“The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace^(A) among the people.”

⁶So Peninnah would taunt Hannah and make fun of her because the Lord had kept her from having children.

⁶Because the Lord had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her.^(A)
